Pytynia-Hillier beats the buzzer to stun No. 16/12 Mary Hardin-Baylor

Box Score SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Grace Pytynia-Hillier beat the buzzer to give the No. 20/14 Puget Sound women's basketball team a 59-58 win over No. 16/12 Mary Hardin-Baylor Tuesday evening. Trinity (Tex.) hosted the game between the top-20 nationally-ranked teams.

The Loggers trailed by five points, 58-53, with 1:45 left in regulation when Katie Minnehan made it a one-possession game by scoring in the paint. The Loggers then got a defensive stop, and Kennedy Brown scored on a fastbreak to cut the deficit to 58-57.

From there, the teams exchanged a couple of misses, but Jenai Ancheta pulled down a crucial defensive rebound with 19 seconds remaining. Puget Sound immediately called timeout to plan its final possession.

The inbounds from in front of the Loggers' bench went to Minnehan, who drove baseline but missed a shot from up close. She got her own rebound, and swung the ball back out to the perimeter.

The ball reached Pytynia-Hillier's hands at the top of the 3-point line. The senior quickly drove down the middle of lane and hit the game-winning floater with 0.1 seconds on the clock.

Pytynia-Hillier finished the game with 11 points, and Samantha Swartout scored a team-high 12 points. Brown added 10 points in the winning effort.

Minnehan filled the stat sheet with eight points, 10 boards, five assists, and two steals.

Tuesday marked the Loggers' second win against a nationally-ranked team this season. Puget Sound beat Whitman when the Blues were ranked No. 21/41 (d3hoops.com/WBCA), Dec. 3.

The Loggers remain in Texas to take on No. 3/3 Trinity (Tex.) Wednesday, Dec. 21.
