TACOMA, Washington – The Puget Sound men's basketball team celebrates its two four-year seniors this weekend when the Loggers host Whitman (Feb. 11) and No. 21 Whitworth (Feb. 12) for the final home games of the 2021-22 season.

Hansen & Wilson
Cal Hansen and
Donovan Wilson are playing in their final collegiate basketball games in Memorial Fieldhouse this weekend. Hansen, a Seattle native, is a two-time All-Northwest Conference selection who recently eclipsed 1,000 points for his career. Wilson did not play his freshman season due to injury. Since then, the point guard has appeared in 50 games for the Maroon & White.

Painfully close
The Loggers suffered two losses on the road last week, both of which were decided by four points. Lewis & Clark beat the Loggers in overtime, 72-68 (Feb. 5). The following day, Willamette edged past Puget Sound, 84-80.

A tale of two halves
The Loggers have a 3-9 record in the Northwest Conference. Of those nine losses, the Loggers were either tied or leading at halftime.

The roaring 20s
Paul Johnson has scored at least 20 points in four of his last five games, and he has done so 10 times this season. Johnson is the conference's leading scorer with 19.4 points per game.

Grant gets grand
Grant Erickson scored a career-high 23 points at Lewis & Clark (Feb. 4), and he came up one rebound shy of his third double-double of the season. Erickson began the game by shooting 7-for-7 from the floor.

Scouting Whitman (9-11, 7-5 NWC)
The Blues have lost three of their last five games, but their most recent contest was a 99-83 win at Willamette (Feb. 6). Whitman has the second-best 3-point percentage in the NWC (36.5-percent), but it is last in rebounding (31.8). Nikola Trifunovic ranks fifth in the NWC for scoring with 16.7 points per game. The Blues beat the Loggers earlier this season, 80-75, in Walla Walla (Jan. 15).

Scouting No. 21 Whitworth (17-3, 10-2 NWC)
Ranked nationally by D3hoops.com, the Pirates' only two NWC losses this season are against Whitman and Linfield. Whitworth averages a conference-best 85.2 points per game by shooting 51.8-percent from the floor. The Pirates are also the NWC's best 3-point shooting team (37.7-percent). Five players average double digits in scoring: JT McDermott (13.4), Garrett Paxton (12.3), Miguel Lopez (11.5), Liam Fitzgerald (10.1), and Jordan Lester (10.1). The Pirates beat the Loggers, 93-77, in Spokane less than one month ago (Jan. 14).
