LACEY, Washington –
Dylan Joyce hit his fourth home run of the season, but the Puget Sound baseball team lost at NCAA D-II St. Martin's, 5-3, Sunday afternoon.
The Loggers (3-4) were trailing 3-0 entering the fifth inning when Joyce put Puget Sound on the board with a solo blast.
It was a 5-1 game in the ninth, but the Loggers made it interesting.
Cody Hirano and
Aaron Tom hit consecutive one-out singles. Following the second out of the stanza,
Kyle Strash was hit by a pitch to load the bases.
Joyce came through big once again, smacking a two-run single to left field. However, the game ended in the next at-bat.
Puget Sound begins its Northwest Conference slate at Linfield, Feb. 19-20.
