Sullivan throws strong, but Loggers drop two at Chapman

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 ORANGE, California – Kelsie Sullivan was solid in the circle, but the Puget Sound softball team lost both ends of a doubleheader at Chapman Sunday.

Kelsie Sullivan allowed only one earned run in a complete-game effort, but the Puget Sound bats could muster only two hits in the first game Sunday.
 
Hailee Ueyama accounted for one of those two hits with a leadoff single in the first inning. However, the next three Loggers eacg struck out.
 
In the third inning, Kimora Phillips hit a one-out double, but she was stranded in scoring position.

The Loggers scored their lone run on a series of fortunate events in the fifth inning. Hope Fleischman led off the fifth inning by getting hit by a pitch. Emma Kessler followed by laying down a sacrifice bunt, which was misplayed by the pitcher. The error allowed Phillips to come all the away around to score.
 
The Loggers return to the PNW to take on NCAA D-II Western Washington Saturday, Feb. 19. Puget Sound's first home games of the season are Sunday, Feb. 20, against NCAA D-II St. Martin's.
