TACOMA, Washington – Northwest Conference baseball action begins this weekend when the Loggers head to Oregon for a three-game series at Linfield, Feb. 19-20.

Jeff Halstead reached his 100
th career victory during the first weekend of the 2022 season. Halstead is a former two-sport student-athlete with the Loggers. By the time he graduated, he was the baseball program's all-time leader in hits, and he was the football program's all-time leader in receptions. Halstead was named the head coach of Puget Sound baseball heading into the 2014-15 academic year.

Dylan Joyce enters the weekend tied for the conference lead in home runs with four. Last year he hit a team-high 12 home runs. So far this season Joyce is slashing .357/.438/.857. He has also thrown four shutout innings out of the bullpen, and has a save to his credit.

Owen Shellhammer won each of his first two starts in 2022. An All-NWC First Team selection last year, Shellhammer currently holds a 0.82 ERA through 11.0 innings this season.

Among NWC players with at least 20 at-bats this season,
Kyle Strash has the best on-base percentage. He also ranks second in batting average among that group. The second baseman is reaching base at a .606 clip and hitting .458 through seven games.

Tyler Beckley's appearances have come out of the bullpen this season, but he has thrown the second-most innings (9.0) for Puget Sound. Beckley has not allowed an earned run thus far, and he has allowed only two hits.

Scouting Linfield (2-4)
The Wildcats begin conference play after getting swept in three games at Pomona-Pitzer last week. Linfield is hitting .238 as a team, and it has cleared the fences only twice. Cameron Skinner is hitting a team-best .286 (min. 15 AB). Andrew Del Biaggio and John Over are the only two pitchers to make two starts so far. Del Biaggio has an 8.22 ERA, and Over has a 9.00 ERA. Linfield has a conference-worst 7.35 ERA.
