PORTLAND, Oregon – Grant Erickson scored a career-high 23 points, but it wasn't enough as the Puget Sound men's basketball team lost in overtime at Lewis & Clark, 72-64.

Erickson shot 10-for-15 from the floor, and he came up one rebound shy of a double-double.
Paul Johnson finished with 15 points and five assists. He had more assists than Lewis & Clark (8-12, 2-10 NWC) had as a team (4).
Taj Phillips added 10 points and seven boards for the Loggers (8-13, 3-8 NWC)

Erickson hit a jumper to tie the game, 15-15, midway through the first half. From there, the Loggers never trailed until the final minute of regulation.

The game was tied, 54-54, when Erickson scored from up close off a nice pass from Johnson with 4:38 on the clock. Following a defensive stop, Johnson hit a jumper from the elbow to give Puget Sound a 58-54 lead with 2:15 to go.

However, the Pioneers connected on consecutive treys to take a 60-58 edge with just over one minute left in regulation. Johnson tied the game with two points from the paint, but the Pioneers responded with a bucket of their own to reclaim the lead.

With six seconds left in regulation, Hansen fed a pass to Erickson in the key, and the Olympia, Washington native scored the game-tying basket to send the teams into overtime knotted up, 62-62.

Lewis & Clark began the extra period with possession, but it was short-lived when Phillips drew an offensive foul. Johnson quickly hit a driving layup to give the Loggers a lead. Following another defensive stop, Phillips scored from the paint to put the Loggers ahead, 66-62.

The Loggers went scoreless for the next four minutes as Lewis & Clark went on a 10-0 run.

Puget Sound didn't do itself any favors by shooting 6-for-19 from the free-throw line for the game. The Pioneers shot 20-for-26 from the line.
