Ten seniors to be celebrated this weekend

TACOMA, Washington – Just two days after its win over Pacific Lutheran in Cheney Stadium, the Puget Sound baseball team begins its Senior Weekend with non-conference games against Pacific and Willamette, April 30 – May 1. Saturday's game against the Boxers starts at 3 p.m., and Sunday's game against Willamette begins at approximately 2 p.m.

They're a perfect 10
Before the start of Sunday's game, Puget Sound celebrates its 10 seniors and their loved ones: Tyler Beckley, Jackson Bolitho, Jackson Dinkel, Shane Himeda, Davis Miller, Jacob Ota, Chris Pullen, Owen Shellhammer, Kyle Strash, and Clayton Waltz.

All-Conference
Earlier this week the Northwest Conference announced that Shane Himeda, Dylan Joyce, and Kyle Strash were named to the All-NWC First Team. Makana Murashige, Jacob Ota, and Clayton Waltz were named All-NWC Honorable Mention. Click HERE for more details.

Playing like pros
Puget Sound trounced Pacific Lutheran, 13-3, in Cheney Stadium Thursday night. Cheney Stadium is home to the Triple-A Tacoma Rainiers (Seattle Mariners affiliate). Clayton Waltz hit an inside-the-park home run and two doubles, while Brett Harvey held PLU scoreless in his five-inning start. William Gross went 3-for-3 at the plate, and he scored three runs.

Himeda gets hit and hits
In conference games this season, Shane Himeda's .407 batting average ranked second in the NWC. He has also been hit by a pitch more than anyone in the NWC. Following Thursday's Cheney Stadium game, Himeda has been hit by a pitch 21 times this spring. That total ranks third in NCAA D-III. Thursday night Himeda was hit three times, each time with the bases loaded.

The first time around
Puget Sound won two out of three games conference games against Pacific earlier this season (Feb. 25-26). The series win was highlighted by a walk-off hit by Shane Himeda. The following week, Puget Sound won two of three conference games at Willamette (March 5-6).
