TACOMA, Washington – They were going out with a win. They would not have it any other way. Puget Sound seniors led the baseball team to a 5-4 victory over Willamette in the season finale on Logger Field Sunday.

Before the start of the game, Puget Sound celebrates its 10 seniors and their loved ones:
Tyler Beckley,
Jackson Bolitho,
Jackson Dinkel,
Shane Himeda,
Davis Miller,
Jacob Ota,
Chris Pullen,
Owen Shellhammer,
Kyle Strash, and
Clayton Waltz.

Dinkel got the start on the hill, and he tossed a season-high four innings. He allowed just one earned run on two hits, and he struck out four. Beckley earned the win after pitching 2.2 shutout innings out of the bullpen.

Strash reached base four times (3-for-4), and so did Himeda (2-for-2).

Jackson Bolitho caught a fly ball and threw out a runner trying to tag up and score, as Waltz successfully blocked the plate and made the tag. Waltz also threw out a runner trying to steal second base.

The Loggers took a 2-0 lead in the first inning. Strash led off with a single, and Himeda hit a double to put two Loggers in scoring position.
Makana Murashige then delivered a clutch two-out, two-run single.

Willamette took a 4-3 lead in the top of the sixth inning, but the lead was short-lived. Bolitho drew a two-out double, and he scored from first base on a double hit to right-center field by Strash.

Himeda scored the go-ahead run in the seventh inning. He led off the frame with a double, and single by Murshige – compounded with an error by the Willamette right fielder – allowed Himeda to score easily.

Dylan Joyce shut the door on the Bearcats to notch his fifth save of the season.

Puget Sound finished its season with an overall record of 20-17, clinching the program's first 20-win season – and first winning season - since 2004.
