Loggers and Lutes renew rivalry in Parkland Wednesday

TACOMA, Washington – The Puget Sound women's soccer team will need a short memory when it travels to Parkland, Washington to take on Pacific Lutheran Wednesday, Sept. 21. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m.

Early hit on career-best
Ava Cholakian has scored six goals through the season's first six games. She recently netted two goals in a 3-0 win over Linfield at home (Sept. 17). Cholakian's six goals matches her career-best total for a single season, which she achieved during her freshman season in 2019. She is currently the conference's second-leading scorer.

Makes the best of the situation
Layla Santos currently leads the NWC in assists with four. Santos has been with the Puget Sound women's soccer program since 2018, but injuries limited her to just six career games entering this season. Santos has played in all six games in 2022.

A first for the century
Puget Sound lost to George Fox, 3-0, in Baker Stadium Sunday (Sept. 18). It was the Bruins' first win over the Loggers since 1999.

Nationally tested
The Loggers entered the Northwest Conference season with two wins over nationally-ranked teams. Puget Sound beat No. 22 Emory, 1-0 (Sept. 5), and bested No. 24 Pomona-Pitzer, 2-0 (Sept. 11).

Scouting Pacific Lutheran (5-0-1, 2-0 NWC)
The unbeaten Lutes began their NWC slate with a 3-1 win over Pacific (Sept. 17), and a 3-0 win over Linfield (Sept. 18). Three Lutes are tied for the team-lead in scoring with three goals, each. Pacific Lutheran's defense has allowed just 16 shots on goal through six games, only one which has reached the back of the net.
