The first NWC road games await Logger volleyball in Oregon

TACOMA, Washington – The Puget Sound volleyball team aims to build off a historic weekend when the Loggers travel to Oregon for Northwest Conference matches at George Fox (Sept. 23) and Pacific (Sept. 24).

Keeping their wits
Puget Sound began the NWC season with 3-0 wins against both Whitman and Whitworth in Memorial Fieldhouse (Sept. 16-17). It was Puget Sound's first 3-0 win over Whitworth since 2012, and it was the first time since at least 2007 that the Loggers swept both Whitman and Whitworth in the same weekend.

All day, Avery day
Avery Allemann was named the NWC Student-Athlete of the Week (offense) following the Loggers' wins over Whitman and Whitworth. Allemann posted 10 kills against both the Blues and the Pirates. She hit at a .441 mark against Whitman, and then hit .381 against Whitworth. Allemann leads the NWC in kills with 95, and her .317 attack-percentage ranks fifth. She has totaled double-digit kills in four of the last five matches, including a career-high 15 against Chapman (Sept. 10). Allemmann is the second Logger to earn a conference distinction this season. Logan Winn was named the NWC Student-Athlete of the Week for offense following the Puget Sound Premiere (Sept. 2-3).

For the Winn
Logan Winn ranks second the NWC for assists with 313. She has at least 30 assists in seven matches, including a career-high 43 against Chapman (Sept. 10).

Block party
Maddie Klopcic leads the Loggers in blocks with 31, and is followed by Avery Allemann (28) and Logan Winn (22).

Checking all angles
Katelyn Chekian is not only crucial in the Loggers' attack (she's second on the team with 73 kills), but she also vital in the defensive efforts as her 105 digs rank second on the team. Chloe Akiona-Bannan leads the Loggers in digs with 129.

Scouting George Fox (5-4, 2-0 NWC)
The Bruins began their conference season with 3-1 wins over Lewis & Clark and Pacific. George Fox is hitting .187 as a team, but opponents are close by hitting .173 against the Bruins. Kassandra Staton has a team-high 96 kills, and Bailey LeBreton has 87. LeBreton also has a team-high 30 blocks, but no other Bruins has 20+ blocks so far this season.

Scouting Pacific (5-4, 0-2)
The Boxers started their NWC season with a loss against George Fox, and they were swept by Willamette. Pacific is attacking at a .164 clip, while limiting opponents to .140. Mara Murphy has a team-high 139 kills. Defensively, only Sarah Hon (17) and Charlotte Powell (16) have double-digit kills this season.
