Puget Sound returns to Oregon to take on Willamette, Linfield

TACOMA, Washington – Tied for first place in the Northwest Conference standings, the Puget Sound volleyball team continues its road stretch at Willamette (Sept. 30) and Linfield (Oct. 1) this weekend.
 
NWC landscape
Two weeks into the conference, four teams have a 3-1 NWC record: Puget Sound, Whitworth, George Fox, Willamette. Pacific holds a winning conference record at 3-2.
 
Chip off the ol' block
Avery Allemann had a career-high 13 blocks at Pacific last week (Sept. 24). She leads the Loggers in blocks with 43 this season. That total ranks second in the NWC.
 
Multi-dimensional
Avery Allemann leads the Loggers in kills (113) and attack-percentage (.282). Her NWC ranks are eighth and seventh, respectively, for those categories.
 
Winning recipe
Logan Winn leads the NWC in assists with 386. She has totaled at least 30 assists in nine matches, and she has eclipsed 40 assists twice. Winn had a career-high 43 assists against Chapman (Sept. 10).
 
Heating up
Katelyn Chekian totaled 27 kills at George Fox and Pacific last week. She is the Loggers' second-leading attacker with 100 kills this season.
 
Service with a smile

Puget Sound has been able to set up its offense well with exceptional serving. Katelyn Chekian leads the team in aces with 16, Logan Winn has 15, and Akira Anderson has 14. All three rank among the conference's top 10 for service aces.
 
Scouting Willamette (4-6, 3-1 NWC)
The Bearcats began their conference slate with three consecutive wins before suffering a 3-0 loss against Whitworth (Sept. 24). Olivia Cadien has a team-high 112 kills, but she's attacking at just a 0.98 clip. Willamette is hitting just 0.90 as a team.
 
Scouting Linfield (6-6, 2-3 NWC)

The Wildcats have lost two of their last three matches. They beat Pacific Lutheran in five sets (Sept. 23), but then lost to George Fox (Sept. 24) and got swept by Pacific (Sept. 28). Raelynn Hammock (157) and Marina Erosa (102) both have more than 100 kills this season, and Aylea Dixon has 361 assists. Linfield has a .148 attack percentage, and it is allowing opponents to hit .176.
