TACOMA, Washington – Genny Jilka Maskarinec scored the game's only goal in the first half, and
Chaylea Tome made two huge second-half saves to propel the Puget Sound women's soccer team to a 1-0 win over No. 22 Emory in Baker Stadium Monday.

Just 11 minutes into the game,
Tess Carden lined up for a free kick from the left side of the field, 25 yards out from the goal. She placed an excellent service into the box, and Jilka Mascarinec one-touched the offering into the back of the net.

The Eagles increased their pressure on the Loggers' defense in the second half. Less than 15 minutes into the second half, an Emory forward broke free behind Puget Sound's back line and had a clear breakaway. Tome stepped up to the top of the box and broke up the scoring opportunity.

Emory earned a penalty kick in the 83
rd minute, but Tome dove to her right to make a remarkable save and preserve the win.

In all, Tome totaled seven saves.

Puget Sound travels to California for games against UC Santa Cruz (Sept. 9) and Pomona-Pitzer (Sept. 11).
