No. 18/13 Loggers aim for sixth consecutive win when they host Lewis & Clark

TACOMA, Washington – They're relentless, and they're home Friday night. The No. 18/13 Puget Sound women's basketball team hosts Lewis & Clark, Jan. 20, at 6 p.m.

Puget Sound dominated Pacific Lutheran, 68-38, in Memorial Fieldhouse Tuesday night. It was the Loggers' fourth win this season by 30 or more against an NCAA D-III opponent.
 
Steadily moving up
The Loggers are ranked No. 18 in the nation in the most recent D3hoops.com poll, which is their best ranking for the site so far this season. The Loggers are No. 13 in the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) national poll.
 
Turn the Paige
Paige Gerhart was nearly perfect shooting the ball against PLU, and she matched her season-high in scoring with 16 points. Gerhart was 6-for-7 from the floor, 3-for-3 from 3-point range, and 1-for-1 from the foul line.
 
Thieves in the night

Puget Sound came up with 21 steals against the Lutes, which is tied for the Loggers' second-highest total this season. Puget Sound also had 21 steals against Wheaton (Nov. 11), and 25 steals against Multnomah (Nov. 12). Katie Minnehan's 4.19 steals per game ranks sixth in all of NCAA D-III, and the Loggers rank ninth as a team with 15.6 steals per game.
 
The beyond section
Puget Sound is making 9.4 3-pointers per game, which ranks fifth in the nation. Kennedy Brown (34), Sophie Nilsson (29), Grace Pytynia-Hillier (25), and Samantha Swartout (23) are the Loggers' leading shooters from beyond the arc.
 
Scouting Lewis & Clark (2-13, 1-5 NWC)

The Pioneers enter Friday's game with six losses in their last seven games. Lewis & Clark's defense allows a conference-high 72.9 points per game. Offensively, the Pioneers are shooting a conference-worst 34.0-percent from the floor. Karli Mukai is the team's leading scorer (16.5), followed by Jamison Richards (13.9) and Charlotte Carroll (10.9). Carroll ranks third in the NWC for rebounding (9.5).
