TACOMA, Washington – Taj Phillips scored a career-high 26 points to lead the Puget Sound men's basketball team to a 100-86 win over Lewis & Clark in Memorial Fieldhouse Friday night.
Â
Phillips was nearly perfect shooting the ball. He shot 8-for-9 from the floor, made his only 3-point attempt, and went 9-for-10 from the free-throw line. His previous career-high in scoring was a 20-point game at Whitman in Jan. 2022.
Â
Mussie Teclemariam scored 17 points against the Pioneers, extending his double-digit scoring streak to nine games.
Liam Ruttledge added 15 points in the winning effort.
Â
Lewis & Clark never held a lead Friday night. The Loggers claimed a 10-point lead seven minutes into the game, and they led by double-digits for the rest of the contest.
Â
The Loggers hit the century mark for the second time in conference play this season. Puget Sound previously beat George Fox, 107-99 (Jan. 6). The Loggers nearly hit triple digits in a 99-79 win at Willamette (Jan. 7).
Â
The Loggers are on the road next week at Whitman and Whitworth (Jan. 27-28).
