Box Score TACOMA, Wash. – The Puget Sound volleyball registered 12 blocks, but couldn't secure a victory as they fell to the Willamette University Bearcats in a five-set match on Friday night (21-25, 23-25, 25-15, 25-14, 9-15).
Mackenzie Leith led the Loggers with 16 kills.
During the initial two sets, the Bearcats maintained a lead for the majority of the match, with only six lead changes between the two, but the Loggers kept the score close until the very end.
The Loggers turned it around dominating the next two sets and keeping the Bearcats at least 10 points behind in each set. In sets three and four combined, the Loggers recorded 23 kills compared to the Bearcats' 15 kills, with Leith contributing 8 of the 23 kills. In set three, the Loggers boasted an attack rate of .316, while the Bearcats struggled with a .00 attack rate due to excessive errors.
However, it was the fifth set that proved decisive for the Bearcats, as they capitalized on back-to-back errors by the Loggers to secure an early 9-4 lead that the Loggers couldn't come back from.
Logan Winn posted an impressive .444 attack rate and 35 assists, while
Mia Fedota tallied seven blocks.
