Women's soccer wins rivalry with Pacific Lutheran 2-1

Box Score PARKLAND, Wash. – Zoe Witter scored the game-winning goal as the Loggers defeated the Pacific Lutheran University Lutes 2-1 on Wednesday night at East Field, with an own goal by the Lutes initially equalizing the score.

In the first half, the Lutes opened the scoring in the 35th minute when Hannah Cecil cut the ball around Sienna Kloss and took it to the right side of the net. Just eight minutes later the Loggers equalized after Leila Hausia-Haugen decided to take the ball to the outside and Ava Cholakian delivered a cross that was inadvertently redirected into the goal by a Lutes defender, resulting in an own goal just before halftime. Both teams applied high pressure from the start with two shots on goal from the Loggers in the first seven minutes and four shots on goal for the Lutes throughout.

The second half was dominated by the Loggers, who outshot the Lutes 9-5. The Loggers took the lead in the 65th minute when Zoe Fowler passed it to Witter in the middle who launched the ball from 20 yards out into the top right corner of the net, securing the 2-1 lead. The Loggers' defense limited the Lutes to just two shots on goal in the second half.

Megan Schellhase made four saves to lead the Loggers to another crucial win. 

The Loggers, with a 10-3-2 in the Northwest Conference will compete in their last regular season match on Sunday, November 5th, at noon in McMinnville, Ore. against Linfield University, with a 3-6-5 NWC record.
