TACOMA, Washington – Emily Moore collected three hits and
Savanna Smith went the distance in the circle to lead the Puget Sound softball team a 7-4 win over Whitworth at Logger Field Saturday afternoon. It was just Puget Sound's second win over the Pirates in their last 13 head-to-head meetings.

The Loggers tailed, 4-2, entering the bottom of the fifth inning, but that's when the Loggers rallied for five runs.
Kimora Phillips led off with an infield single, and she moved into scoring position on sacrifice bunt by
Hailee Ueyama.

Sofia Gonzales followed with an RBI single, and then a double by
Jessica Moore put two Loggers in scoring position.
Emily Moore took full advantage by belting a two-run double to center field, giving the Loggers a 5-4 lead. Following a single by
Jazzy Allen,
Kendall Gantz hit a two-run double of her own to increase the lead to 7-4.

Smith allowed just one hit in the game's final two innings. Overall, she allowed four earned runs in 7.0 innings.

Emily Moore went 3-for-4 at the plate, and she scored three runs. Phillips, Allen, and
Jessica Moore each finished with two hits.

Puget Sound lost the first game on Saturday's doubleheader, 9-1 (6 inn.).
Jessica Moore went 2-for-3 with the bat, and she scored the Loggers' only run when
Emily Moore hit a double in the third inning.
