TACOMA, Washington – The Puget Sound softball team recently proved it should not be underestimated, and the Loggers aim to continue to prove naysayers wrong when it travels to George Fox for a Northwest Conference series this weekend, March 25-26. The series was initially scheduled for Feb. 25-26, but postponed due to wintry weather in Oregon.

A decade in the making
For the first time since 2010, Puget Sound beat Whitworth twice in a single weekend (March 18-19). The Loggers lost the first game of each doubleheader, but they rallied to win the latter game on both days.
Â
Birthday bash
Savanna Smith celebrated her birthday by hitting the game-winning home run in an 8-6 win over Whitworth (March 19). Smith went 3-for-4 at the plate in the victory, and she earned the win in the circle by pitching all seven innings.

Scouting George Fox (9-9, 2-4 NWC)
The Bruins enter the weekend with five consecutive wins – all of which were non-conference. George Fox padded its stats with a 33-1 win over Anderson (Ind.), March 19. Kamryn Potter leads the team in hitting with a .451 batting average, and Sydney Sandifer has a team-high eight home runs and 21 RBI. George Fox doesn't run much – but it hasn't been caught stealing yet this season (14-for-14). The pitching staff has a 5.17 ERA, and opponents are hitting .287 against the Bruins.
