Box Score TACOMA, Washington – Dylan Joyce became the first Logger in school history to reach 30 career home runs, and he wasn't done there. The senior homered three times during the Puget Sound baseball team's 16-7 win over Linfield at Logger Field Sunday afternoon.
Joyce entered Sunday's game tied with Mark Rockey '10 for the most home runs in school history (29). With two runners on base in the first inning, Joyce blasted an opposite-field shot to become Puget Sound's all-time home run king.
Joyce hit a two-run homer in the second inning, and he hit a three-run homer as part of an eight-run eighth inning.
Overall, Joyce finished the game 4-for-6 with eight RBI and four runs scored. In addition to the big school record, Joyce set personal records for home runs and RBI in a game.
Cody Hirano matched Joyce's run total after going 3-for-4 with a couple of walks in the leadoff spot.
Makana Murashige finished the game 3-for-5 at the plate.
Puget Sound starting pitcher
Davis Franklin didn't have his best outing of the season, but he still improved to 3-1. Franklin worked 6.0 innings, allowed four earned runs, and struck out five.
The second game of the Northwest Conference series was suspended in the seventh inning to due to darkness. That game is tied, 6-6, and will resume Monday at 11 a.m. The third and final game of the series will follow later in the early afternoon.
