Box Score 2 FOREST GROVE, Oregon – With one swing of the bat,
Dylan Joyce made history - again.
Joyce hit a grand slam in the second inning of the Puget Sound baseball team's non-conference game at Pacific Saturday. The four runs batted in gave him 133 RBI for his career – surpassing the record previously held by Olin Wick '04 (131).
Joyce now holds Puget Sound's all-time records for RBI, home runs (38), and saves (15).
The Loggers beat the Boxers, 11-8. Joyce,
Drew Kamihara,
Cooper Allen,
Gabe Huante,
Aidan Sullivan, and
Jonah Velasco each collected two hits.
Kamihara and
Nicholas Prater both hit RBI doubles during the win.
Saturday started with a 14-inning non-conference marathon against Whitworth (hosted by Pacific). Joyce hit a solo home run home run in the bottom of the seventh inning to give the Loggers a 4-3 lead. Later in the inning,
Davis Franklin hit an RBI double, Sullivan drew a bases-loaded walk, and
Cody Hirano reached on a fielder's choice to push the lead to 7-3.
The Pirates added two runs in the eighth inning, and then tied the game with a two-run homer in the ninth. They scored two more runs in the top of the 14
th inning.
The Loggers' 2023 season concludes with a non-conference game at Willamette Sunday, April 30.
