Huante drives in six runs during 2023 season finale

SALEM, Oregon – Senior Gabe Huante drove in a career-high six runs during the Puget Sound baseball team's season finale at Willamette Sunday. The Loggers came up short, 11-8, in the non-conference game.

Puget Sound was in a 5-0 through two innings, but Huante crushed a three-run homer in the third inning to bring the Loggers to within two runs.

Huante drove in another run with a double in the fourth inning, and he smacked a two-run double in the sixth.

Puget Sound cut its deficit to one run, 9-8, in the top of the seventh inning when Cody Hirano and Dylan Joyce both hit RBI singles. However, Willamette tacked on one run in bottom of the frame, and added another in the eighth.

Huante finished the game 3-for-5 at the plate, increasing his batting average to .366 for the season.

Joyce and Joshua Carrillo, both of whom are seniors, also finished the game with multiple hits.
