TACOMA, Washington – The Puget Sound softball team has a tall task this weekend when the Loggers host nationally-ranked No. 7 Linfield for a four-game series, April 7-8.

The upset
Puget Sound know what it takes to rise to the occasion against the nationally-ranked Wildcats. During the 2021 season, Linfield was ranked No. 1 in the country when the Loggers stunned the Wildcats with a 7-6 walk-off win. The Loggers were in a 6-0 deficit, but they rallied for four runs in the fifth inning, and scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning. The seventh-inning rally included a solo home run by

The mo' you know J-Mo
After hitting .256 last year, junior
Jessica Moore enters this weekend with a .366 batting averages through 26 games this spring. Moore had a big weekend at Pacific (April 1-2), going 6-for-15 at the plate with four doubles and four runs scored. She has a team-leading 13 doubles this season.

Mo' Moores
Emily Moore (no relation to Jessica) is hitting .363 during her sophomore campaign. Moore also went 6-for-15 at the plate against the Boxers last week. She scored five times and drove in five runs during those four games.

Smith keeps smashin'
Savanna Smith enters this weekend as the Loggers' leading hitter (.386). Smith also leads the team in home runs (3) and RBI (21).

Hailee's hits
Hailee Ueyama had her second three-hit game of the season when she went 3-for-6 in a game at Pacific (April 2). Ueyama's previous three-hit game was at La Verne (Feb. 17).

Scouting No. 7 Linfield (23-3, 13-1)
The Wildcat's only conference loss this season came against George Fox (March 29). As a team, Linfield is hitting .378 while swiping 78 bases, and the pitching staff has a 2.48 ERA. Baily Paul (19),Tiani Wayton (17), and Kaili Saathoff (14) lead the conference in steals. Tayah Kelley leads the NWC in ERA (1.39) and strikeouts (120) through 95.2 innings.
