TACOMA, Wash. – The Puget Sound men's soccer team suffered a 3-2 defeat against the Whitman College Blues in the 90
th minute on Saturday.
The Blues took the lead in the first half going 2-0 against the Loggers with goals from Edwin Romero and Sawyer Valero scoring in the 21
st and 34
th minute, respectively.
In the second half, the Loggers quickly responded. Just a minute after kickoff a foul was called on the Blues, resulting in a free kick for Puget Sound.
Marko Babiak capitalized on the opportunity firing the ball up and over a wall of Blues and into the back of the net reducing the deficit to 2-1. Just minutes later,
Graham Hall made a long pass to
Stuart Methner passing it off his chest to
Marko Babiak who burried the ball deep into the right pocket, equalizing the score at 2-2.
Ryan Saunders had impressive back-to-back saves to keep the Loggers in the game, but it wasn't until the last seconds of the match that the Blues found the winning goal, breaching through Logger defense and taking the final lead in the 90
th minute.
The Loggers will have a chance to bounce back at East Field on Sunday, September 17
th at 2:30 p.m. as they face Whitworth University.
