GRANTHAM, Penn. – After traveling across the country, the Puget Sound women's soccer team opened its 2023 season with a 0-3 loss against No. 3 ranked
Messiah yesterday.
In the first half, the Loggers defense held off a 5-1 shot advantage by
Messiah with the Falcons putting up its first goal in the 29
th minute.
In the second half, the Loggers created several scoring opportunities with six shots, three as shots-on-goal, but were unable to convert. Messiah was able to add to its lead with goals at the 54
th and 71
st minutes of play.
Five Loggers recorded shots with forward
Mimi Carrier-Berndt and defender
Sofia Benedetti each adding a second to their count.
The Loggers will finish out its east coast trip today at 2 p.m. (PST) against Washington and Lee.
