Loggers victoriously end Puget Sound Premiere 4-0

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 TACOMA, Wash. – The University of Puget Sound volleyball team continued their undefeated season with two five-set matches for the final day of the Puget Sound Premiere tournament on Saturday.  

The Loggers completed their sweep of the tournament with a five-set thriller against Northwest Conference opponent Pacific Lutheran University. The reigning NWC champions came out hot taking the first set before PLU fought back to take the next two. The familiar rivals continued to battle in sets three and four before the Loggers punctuated the two-day event by dominating set five. With the final 25-8, 17-25, 22-25, 27-25, and 15-5 scoreline, the Loggers moved to 4-0 on the season.

Freshman, Randi Rush dished out two double-doubles this weekend, notably against their rivals PLU with 10 kills and 12 assists, while another freshman libero, Samantha Keightley grabbed 24 digs and six assists. Sarah Johnsen came out on top with 12 kills and Logan Winn won the crowd with 25 assists and five aces. 
 
Earlier in the day, the Loggers earned their second five-set win of the season against Eastern with scores of 18-25, 25-23, 27-25, 14-25, and 15-12. From the beginning it was clear the match was going to be tight, and it took a close fifth set to finally settle the result with Puget Sound taking the victory.  

Three Loggers recorded at least 10 kills with Katelyn Chekian leading the way with 12, followed by Avery Allemann with 11 and Mia Fedota with 10. Winn showed her poise in dishing up 23 assists and Keightley recorded 25 digs for the Loggers. 

Puget Sound hits the road next weekend when they travel to Georgetown, Texas for the Southwestern Invitational. The Loggers will first face Aurora University on Friday.
