GEORGETOWN, Texas — The University of Puget Sound volleyball team continued their winning streak, going 2-0 on the first day of the Southwestern Fall Invitational. The Loggers secured victories over Concordia University (25-17, 25-18, 25-16) and Aurora University (25-22, 21-25, 27-25, 25-22).

In the first set, Concordia held the lead until Puget Sound tied it up 16-16 and took the lead all the way to the end, 25-17. The next two matches were dominated by the Loggers.
Senior
Avery Allemann led the offensive charge with 10 points off an impressive .750 attack. Senior
Logan Winn followed closely with seven kills and a .316 hitting percentage along with three blocks. Defensive specialist
Akira Anderson put Concordia on their heels from the service line. The Loggers also saw valuable play off the bench by
Erin Fagan and
Sara Olssen.
Puget Sound 3, Aurora University 1
Against a well-matched opponent, the Aurora University Spartans, the Loggers stole the win in four sets, both teams were picked to win their conferences for the 2023 season.
The first two sets were close, Puget Sound and Aurora each taking one, the third set was drawn out with the Loggers and the Spartans going back-to-back points ending in victory for the Loggers. The last set was a nail-biter, with the Loggers up 24-18, the Spartans were desperate for a win to continue on and were close, as the Loggers saw consecutive attacking errors, thankfully Mia Fedota came in with a kill to finish the game 25-22.
Katelyn Chekian lead the way with 15 kills on a .257 hitting percentage, close behind, outside hitter, Erin Fagan had 13 kills with a .500 hitting percentage effort. While freshman, middle hitter, Fedota dominated at .438 attack percentage. Randi Rush ran an impressive 5-1 offense for the first time this year with another double-double, 41 assists and 14 digs. Libero, Samantha Keightley finished the day with 25 digs.
After a promising first day in Georgetown, Texas the Puget Sound Loggers face LeTourneau University at 1 p.m. (PST) and their biggest competition in the tournament, Southwestern University at 3:15 p.m. (PST) tomorrow, Saturday Sept. 9 inside Corbin Robertson Center.
