TACOMA, Wash. – Freshman Logger Zane Miller scores a game-high 20 points shooting 8-of-10 from the floor in a comeback 73-65 win on Saturday night in Memorial Fieldhouse.

Puget Sound (4-2 NWC) captured its third-consecutive win in Northwest Conference play. The Loggers, previously trailing the Lewis and Clark Pioneers (1-5) by as much as seven points, outscored the visitors 46-34 in the second half.

Phillips finished with 15 points, five rebounds, and five assists, Liam Ruttledge chipped in with 12 points. Dezman Baker, Hugo Rutherfurd and Miller all led with six boards each.

The first half was dominated by the Pioneers taking a seven point lead to start the game and continued to hold that lead until 9:48 left in the half when the Loggers briefly broke the deficit and took a 12-11 lead. The Pioneers quickly responded with another seven point run to replenish the Pioneers lead, but the Loggers answered back with a 3-pointer from Phillips and a jumper from Jack Bailey. The game continued to switch possessions, but the Loggers never took the lead back, finishing the half with a three pointer from Phillips just before the buzzer to claw back within four points.

In the second half, the Loggers chipped away at the Pioneers, tying it up 45-45 at 13:57 on the clock, a lead they would hold until the end. Both teams went quiet on offense for two minutes before Rutherfurd drilled back-to-back jumpers for a 57-52 advantage with 6:57 left on the clock. The Loggers took their largest lead of the night 64-57 at 3:46 and maintained that seven point lead all the way to the end. Miller dropped 18 points in the second half, scoring off his own rebounds and fast breaks.
