McMINNVILLE, Ore. – Four Loggers score in double-digits as the Puget Sound men's basketball team defeats the Linfield Wildcats in a 73-58 win on Saturday night in Ted Wilson Gymnasium
Taj Phillips scored 16 points, seven assists, five rebounds and three steals in the win.
Liam Ruttledge went 5-of-7 from the floor scoring 11 points followed by
Ian Cook's 11 points and
Will Mathews 10 points.
The Loggers started the shooting with a three-pointer from Phillips and finished the first half up 39-25 shooting at a 48.4% rate. The Loggers held a strong defense, forcing the Wildcats to a 29% shooting rate.
Linfield improved in the second half with a 52.6% shooting rate, but the Loggers maintained a double-digit lead until the end. The Loggers went on an 8-point run in the last five minutes of regulation.
The Loggers snagged 28 points from the bench and forced 12 turnovers resulting in 21 points.
The Loggers will be back at home next weekend to face Willamette and Lewis and Clark, Jan. 12 and 13 in Memorial Fieldhouse at 8 p.m. and 6 p.m.
