Men's Soccer End Season With Another Draw

SPOKANE, Washington (November 10, 2024) - The Loggers closed out their regular season with a 1-1 draw against the Whitworth Pirates to bring their conference record to 5-3-8.

A scoreless first half saw several substitutions from both teams in attempts to gain momentum and put a point on the board. The Loggers' big opportunity came in the 17th minute as Liam Elliott was able to get his head on a cross from Pema Globus, forcing the Pirates keeper to make a quick diving save.

Willamette took the lead in the 71st minute, scoring off a free kick the Loggers were unable to clear from attacking danger. The lead lasted less than a minute as the Loggers scored off a disorganized free kick of their own. Edgar Tamayo Gallegos's kick wasn't contained by the Pirates keeper and Shea Ansell picked up the rebound to score his first goal of the season and tie up the game for the Loggers.

The Loggers end their season with 23 points and an overall record of 6-5-8, similar to their 2023 results.
