Kamihara and Teruya homer to overpower Vassar College 12-7

Box Score TACOMA, Wash. — Drew Kamihara and Kahiau Teruya each scored a homerun to push the Puget Sound baseball team to 12-7 win over the Vassar College Brewers on Wednesday afternoon.

Kamihara delivered two runs on three hits and added an RBI, while Kahiau earned two runs on three hits and three RBI's in the win.

Vassar scored the first two runs after Cal Johnson walked a few Brewers, but Kamihara answered with a one-run homer to set the tone. Davis Franklin followed in the next inning with a single to center field that ran in two Loggers.

Charlie Decker won on the mound pitching the Loggers out of a three-run stunt by the Brewers in the top of the sixth and allowing only one run. Then, the Loggers scored in two more runs in the seventh inning off balks. Then, Brock Makishima battled a single that dropped in front of right field to score in two and take a 12-7 lead. The Loggers would defend the plate allowing only one more hit in the last two innings.

The Puget Sound Loggers will head to Salem, Oregon for their first Northwest Conference match of the season against Willamette University, on March 16 and 17.
