Phillips runs in twice, Loggers still fall to Valley City State and Drew University

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 TACOMA, Wash. – The Puget Sound softball team scored three runs, but it wasn't enough to steal a win against Valley City State or Drew University at the Tucson Invitational Games on Saturday. 

Puget Sound 3, Valley City State University 8

The Logger softball team had three runs on two hits and three RBIs.

Valley City State led with a single base hit adding an RBI to the first inning, but they wouldn't score again until the seventh inning. Then, in the bottom of the first, Jessica Moore reached first on an error by the second baseman to score in Kimora Phillips

In the bottom of the third, Moore doubled for the Loggers, scoring in both Phillips and Brenna Flannery.

Valley City scored seven runs on three hits and two errors by the Loggers. The Loggers reached on a fielders choice, but no one else would get on base as the final out was grounded to the pitcher. 

Puget Sound 0, Drew University 8 (five innings)

The Puget Sound Loggers had one hit, a double from Hope Fleischman. The Loggers kept a tie game until the bottom of the fourth when Drew scored seven runs. Drew University finished the fifth inning early with one more run, 8-0. Drew had five hits and no errors. 

The Loggers are set to play tomorrow, Sunday, March 3, against Mount Mary University at 9 a.m. and St. John Fisher at 11 a.m. in Tucson to round out their Arizona trip.
