TACOMA, Wash. — Jason Rowe and Will Church secure consecutive #1 doubles wins as the Puget Sound Loggers fall to George Fox University, 8-1, on Saturday and Linfield University, 5-4, on Sunday in the Tennis Pavilion.
With the tandem of Jason Rowe and Will Church delivering a masterclass to seize victory in the #1 doubles. They showcased remarkable teamwork and precision to outplay their opponents, Vahag Pashayan and Nanase Ebisu, with a final score of 8-6.
In the #2 doubles, Noah Henderson and Matthew Zou waged a fierce battle, yet narrowly missed out on victory, as Lars Schmassmann and Eli Mizerski of Goerge Fox University secured an 8-6 win.
The #3 doubles witnessed a dominant display from George Fox as Tyler Blixt and Levi Buck fell to an 8-3 loss.
Transitioning to the singles arena, Rowe showcased remarkable resilience and skill in the #1 singles, though ultimately falling short against Vahag Pashayan, with a final score of 6-2, 7-6.
Noah Henderson exhibited valiant effort in the #2 singles but couldn't overcome the challenge posed by Hunter Fujimori, who secured victory with a score of 6-4, 7-5.
In the #3 and #4 singles, Carson Ward and Church displayed similar performances both falling with set scores of 6-1, 6-3.
Brayden Sawyer displayed grit in the #5 singles but was ultimately outmatched by George Fox University's Zach Moore, who outperformed 6-2, 7-5.
In the #6 singles, Zou fell to a score of 6-2, 6-0.
Against Linfield University, the doubles matches set the tone for the day, with an electrifying start for the Logger duo of Jason Rowe and Will Church delivering a stellar performance to claim victory in the #1 doubles against their opponents, Seth Lee and Rogue Stone of Linfield. Rowe and Church exhibited remarkable teamwork and precision to secure a hard-fought victory with a nail-biting score of 8-7, then 7-5, setting the tone for the rest of the matches.
In the #2 doubles, Henderson and Zou displayed commendable effort but were unable to overcome the formidable partnership of Haven Hepton and Cameron Paulsen, who clinched victory with a score of 8-4.
However, the Puget Sound team rallied back in the #3 doubles, with Tyler Blixt and Levi Buck delivering an unmatched performance to outplay their opponents, Matous Young and Alexander Rosenquist and secure a thrilling win with a score of 8-7, 7-5.
Moving on to the singles matches, Rowe continued his impressive form from the doubles, delivering a dominant performance against Lee in the #1 singles. Rowe displayed exceptional skill and control to secure a convincing victory with a score of 6-0, 6-2.
In the #2 singles, Henderson showcased his resilience and determination going to three sets, but faced a tough challenge from Rogue Stone, ultimately falling short with a score of 6-3, 3-6, 5-7.
Ward also went to three sets in the #3 singles against Linfield, but ultimately Ward fell with a scores of 6-4, 2-6, 6-1.
Church fell in #4 singles to a score of 6-3, 2-6, 6-3, while Tyler Blixt delivered a commanding performance in the #5 singles, overpowering his opponent, Cody Pickar, with a score of 6-2, 6-2.
In the #6 singles, Zou fought valiantly but was unable to overcome a score of 7-5, 6-3.
The Puget Sound Logger men's tennis team will compete against Lewis and Clark University on, April 7, at noon in the Tennis Pavilion.
