Logger women's tennis closes road trip with double loss

TACOMA, Wash. — Krishna Agrawal and Ella Parker each had wins in singles play as the Puget Sound Loggers fell to George Fox University, 9-0, on Saturday and Linfield University, 7-2 on Sunday in the Linfield Tennis Center. 

The doubles matches kicked off the competition, with the Loggers' pairs giving their all on the court. However, despite the efforts of Kaylee Yamada and Krishna Agrawal, Hyla Chatham and Marissa Perez, as well as Zoe Richter and Laura Schneidman, the Loggers were unable to overcome the formidable pairs from George Fox. George Fox University defeated the Loggers 8-0 in all three matches. 

In singles play, Kaylee Yamada put up a strong fight, but ultimately fell short in the #1 singles match against Kalli Wiker, with a final score of 3-6, 3-6. Marissa Perez battled hard in the #2 Singles match but was unable to overcome Riley Bobkiewicz, who secured the win with a score of 0-6, 2-6.

Krishna Agrawal fought hard in #3 singles as she only fell 4-6, 4-6. Laura Schneidman, Zoe Richter, and Ella Parker also represented the Loggers admirably in their respective singles matches, but were no match for the skill of George Fox's #4, #5, and #6 singles matches, respectively.

Against Linfield University, the doubles matches set the tone for the day's events, with the Loggers facing strong opposition from the Wildcats' pairs. In the #1 doubles match, Krishna Agrawal and Kaylee Yamada fought hard but were ultimately unable to overcome the formidable duo of Sarah Forester and Emma Tuttle, who secured a commanding victory with a score of 0-8.

Marissa Perez and Hyla Chatham put up a valiant effort in the #2 doubles match, but fell short with a final score of 5-8. Zoe Richter and Ella Parker also battled bravely in the #3 doubles match with a losing score of 3-8.

In the #1 singles match, Yamada faced a tough challenge from Sarah Forester, ultimately falling short with a score of 0-6, 1-6. Marissa Perez also put up a strong effort in the #2 singles match but was unable to overcome Emma Tuttle, who secured victory with a score of 0-6, 2-6.

Krishna Agrawal provided a bright spot for the Loggers in the #3 singles match, showcasing resilience and skill to secure a hard-fought victory against Kaitlynn Canubida, with a final score of 7-5, 6-4. However, Laura Schneidman and Zoe Richter were unable to secure wins in their respective singles matches, facing tough opposition from the Wildcats' players.

To end the match on a high note, Ella Parker emerged with a 7-5, 7-5 win against Lisa Ponti to finish out the weekend with a win. 

The Loggers will be back on the road on April 7, at noon, to face Lewis and Clark University.
