TACOMA, Wash - (August 23, 2024) Women's Basketball Head Coach
Casey Kushiyama was quick to note that "With 10 talented returners; we really had the luxury of prioritizing quality over quantity with this class. We were ultra-selective with the players we focused on through the recruiting process. And I couldn't be happier with our class. We believe we have four people who are perfect fits for our culture and system."
Brianna Forbess, 6' G
Camas HS/Camas, WA
"Bri is coming to Puget Sound from arguably the best high school girls basketball program in Washington. Camas played in back-to-back state championships and won it all last season. I'm super excited to coach her because she really hasn't even begun to scratch the surface of her potential. She's a long, six-foot athlete with an incredible motor and nose for the ball. She also has the ability to stretch the floor with her shooting - which makes her a perfect fit for our program."
Carmen Cruz, 5'10" G
West Seattle HS/Seattle, WA
"In the class of 2024, I don't think there was a better shooter in the state than Carmen. She's your favorite shooter's favorite shooter with drop-your-jaw type range. And if she was just a shooter that would be great but she's also a long athlete with handles and a crafty finisher inside. She was a 1st Team All-League player in one of the most talented leagues in Washington. She's as complete a player as we've had come into our program."
Mele Sake, 6'1" G
Iolani School/Aiea, HI
"Simply put, Mele is a winner. She was the Hawaii State Player of the Year and led her high school team to three straight State Championships. Only Covid could stop her from winning four. Mele has a rare combination of size, strength, athleticism, and skill. Physically imposing to dominate inside but agile and skilled to play on the perimeter."
Savannah Pohl 6' G
Longmont HS/Firestone, CO
"Savannah is a coach's dream. She scored over 1,000 points and grabbed over 500 rebounds in her high school career. She also averaged over 3 steals per game during her senior year as was named her Conference's Player of the Year. But it's her maturity and leadership skills that put her on another level. Talent is important but it means nothing without
someone to lead. That's Savannah!"
