TACOMA, Wash. – The Puget Sound Loggers delivered a commanding performance on Friday night, rolling past Whitworth 84-45 in a Northwest Conference showdown at Memorial Fieldhouse. The Loggers (6-12, 5-4 NWC) set the tone early and never looked back, using a balanced offensive attack and stifling defense to secure the dominant win.
Puget Sound took control from the opening tipoff, outscoring Whitworth 22-13 in the first quarter before stretching the lead to 38-23 at halftime. The Loggers exploded in the second half, piling on 24 points in the third quarter and finishing with a 22-point fourth quarter to seal their most decisive victory of the season.
Claire Thompson came off the bench to lead all scorers with 14 points on an efficient 6-for-7 shooting night, while Carmen Cruz added 13 points and five rebounds. Emme Eisenman and Addison Reardon chipped in 11 and 10 points, respectively, as Puget Sound showcased its depth with 37 points from its reserves. The Loggers dominated the paint, scoring 50 points inside and converting 56.1% (32-for-57) of their field goal attempts.
The Loggers' defense played a crucial role, recording 14 steals and forcing Whitworth into tough shots all night. Puget Sound also won the battle on the boards, out-rebounding the Pirates 43-26, including a 13-4 advantage in second-chance points.
