NEWBERG, Ore. -- After going down a goal to start the match, the Loggers piled it on, beating the Bruins 4-1.
How it Happened
Leila Hausia-Haugen got off to a great start to the game, firing three shots in just over three minutes to put immediate pressure on the Bruins' back line.
Gianna Maldonado also made a great save in the sixth minute, as the two teams traded shots early on. The Bruins struck first, though, after a foul on Maldonado set up a penalty kick in the 26th minute. The Bruins converted, taking an early 1-0 lead.
It didn't take long for the Loggers to fight back, though, as they piled on two shots on goal not long after. Anya Dubios got the log rolling in the 39th minute, taking advantage of a bouncing ball in the box to net her first goal as a Logger.
Hayden Goodman played a great ball in on a corner, finding Hausia Haugen, whose blocked shot found the feet of Dubios. This tied the game at one apiece, which was the score heading into halftime.
The second half was all Puget Sound, as the team found its groove. Two goals in five minutes propelled the team to a quick 3-1 lead in the 66th and 71st minutes.
Zoe Witter received a ball just outside of the box, took two dribbles, and then pelted the ball at the goal. A deflection by a Bruin defender confused the keeper, as Witter picked up her fourth goal of the season.
Dubois, just five minutes later, received a back pass from
Sydney Boyd just outside of the box. She hit it on the first touch, finding the top left corner for her second goal of the game.
Bre Fulton-Kaneshiro also wanted to get in on the action, picking up her first goal of the season in the 75th minute. She made an immediate impact, coming into the game just ten seconds prior. Goodman had another great ball in from the corner, finding
Maya George in the box. George flicked the ball towards Fulton-Kaneshiro, who found the back of the net.
The Loggers continued to fire shots on frame, but couldn't find another goal. They took this one, 4-1, to remain undefeated in Northwest Conference play.
