Loggers Pick Up Tie at Lewis & Clark

PORTLAND, Ore. -- The Loggers finish up their four-game road trip at Lewis & Clark, tying the Pioneers 0-0 to wrap up their Oregon trip undefeated.
How it Happened
The Pioneers started the game off quickly, earning a corner kick just 1:27 into the match. From then on, it was all Loggers, as Etiene Polak and Sebastian Telles both fired shots in the 18th and 19th minutes. Polak fired another shot on target in the 26th minute, while Cody Karmel, who normally plays on the back line, also put a shot on frame just a few minutes later.
With under two minutes to go in the first half, the Loggers had the best chance of the game. Alonzo Barajas fired a shot that glanced off the left post, narrowly missing and keeping the score tied 0-0 heading into halftime.
Goalkeeper Luke Mamiya played well to start the second half, as a halftime adjustment led to the Pioneers forcing a couple of early second-half saves. Mamiya handled them well, though, as the team was able to make a couple of second-half adjustments.
The Loggers continued to press, but couldn't quite find the deciding goal. They fired several shots on goal, and Mamiya did a great job both directing traffic and holding onto a clean sheet. Puget Sound put up 10 shots in the second half, totaling 16 en route to a 0-0 tie.
Top Performers
Mamiya got a nice shutout, playing 90 minutes for the first time all season. Polak led the team in shots, firing 5 with only two on goal.
Coach's Thoughts
"?Lewis & Clark made it a frustrating game, and we found it difficult to capitalize on our opportunities," said Logger head coach Steve Mohn. We created several good chances throughout the game and were unlucky not to convert. Luke Mamiya was critical in the second half, making several excellent saves early on to keep the score tied at 0-0. Although the result wasn't what we had hoped for, earning four points over the weekend is still a successful road trip."
What Happens Next
The Loggers take on Pacific Lutheran on October 22nd. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:45 pm.
