CLAREMONT, Calif. -- The Loggers' fantastic season comes to a close in the second round of the NCAA Tournament, falling to No. 5 Pomona-Pitzer.
How it Happened
The Loggers came out firing against the Sagehens, as
Hayden Goodman and
Bre Fulton-Kaneshiro both put shots on goal in the first five minutes of the match. It was the Sagehens who struck first, though, as Vivian Collins found the back of the net in the 10th minute.
Leila Hausia-Haugen took control from there, taking a shot in the 27th minute that was saved by the Sagehens' keeper. Another shot by Hausia-Haugen hit the crossbar in the 42nd minute, as the Loggers went into the second half down 1-0.
Sydney Boyd and
Zoe Witter put on some early pressure in the second half, both just missing in the 51st and 52nd minutes. The teams then battled for possession, as Puget Sound searched for the equalizer.
Ella Oetinger and
Anya Dubois both had chances late, but a second goal by Pomona-Pitzer sealed the deal in the 84th minute.
The Loggers' fantastic season has officially come to a close, but it will truly be one to remember. They'll look to build in the offseason and come back stronger next season.
