FOREST GROVE, Ore. -- The Loggers bounce back with a dominant win over the University of Dallas, holding them to only 15 points in each half.
How it Happened
Defense was the name of the game early, as both teams took a bit to get going. The Loggers got off to an early 4-0 lead, but the Crusaders came right back to lead it 4-5. Layups by Savanah Pohl and
Mele Sake gave the Loggers a 8-5 lead, and a
Carmen Cruz three extended it again to four. The Crusaders made another bucket to make it 11-9, but two late free throws by the Loggers gave them a 13-9 lead after one.
The second quarter was all Loggers, as they caused a ton of turnovers and jumped out to a 23-9 lead. The teams traded a trio of buckets back and forth, but another Logger run made it 34-15, as
Hailey Quiggle got hot from behind the arc. She knocked down a trio of threes to extend the lead to 22, which is how the first half ended – 37-15.
The third quarter saw another solid run by the Loggers, as they continued to extend their lead. A pair of buckets in the paint by Cruz and
Natalia Sefair-Lopez made it 44-17. Another Logger's run extended the lead yet again, as the Loggers found themselves up by 34 after a fast-break lay-in by Sefair Lopez. After a long scoring drought, two free throws by the Crusaders concluded the third quarter, as the Loggers held a 56-24 lead heading into the fourth.
The fourth quarter was more of the same, as the Loggers continued to play well on both ends of the ball. Quiggle made yet another bucket, and
Claire Thompson scored on a fast break after a steal by
Brianna Forbess, making it 63-26 Loggers. The Crusaders only scored four points from the 7:30 minute mark onwards, as the loggers continued to pour in the buckets. They finished with 79 points - their most of the year so far.
