FOREST GROVE, Ore. – The Puget Sound Loggers (8-13, 7-5 NWC) delivered a strong team effort to secure a 68-61 victory over Pacific University (8-13, 4-8 NWC) in Northwest Conference play this Saturday evening at the Stoller Center. A balanced scoring attack and late free throws sealed the win for the Loggers, who earned their seventh conference victory, securing their 4th place in the conference standings.
Emme Eisenman led the way with 13 points, nine rebounds, and two steals, while
Savannah Pohl provided a crucial spark off the bench with 12 points, including seven free throws.
Addison Reardon added 10 points and four steals, while
Claire Thompson contributed eight points and three blocks. The Loggers' defense proved to be a difference-maker, forcing 15 turnovers and recording 12 steals.
Puget Sound led 14-12 after the first quarter and maintained a slim 34-28 advantage at halftime. Pacific battled back in the third quarter, closing the gap to 50-46 entering the final period. However, the Loggers remained composed down the stretch, outscoring the Boxers 18-15 in the fourth quarter while sinking 12-of-15 free throws to put the game away.
Despite hitting 11 three-pointers as a team, the Boxers struggled inside, scoring just 22 points in the paint compared to Puget Sound's 32.
With the win, Puget Sound is eyeing the third place position in NWC standings as we move into the final weeks of the season.
