Fast Start Fuels Loggers' 16–9 Win Over PLU

PARKLAND, Wash. -- The Loggers delivered a commanding performance Friday night, securing a 16–9 victory over crosstown rival Pacific Lutheran University. The win improves the Loggers' record to 4–7 overall and 1–2 in Northwest Conference play.

The Loggers set the tone early, racing to a 4–0 lead in the first quarter. Maggie Ott opened the scoring at 13:01, followed by goals from Hailey Woodard (assisted by Cat Schilli), Michaela Chen, and another from Woodard. Puget Sound extended their lead in the second quarter with three more goals—two from Amity Humphrey and one from Schilli—bringing the halftime score to 7–1.

Pacific Lutheran mounted a comeback in the third quarter, narrowing the gap to 7–4 with three consecutive goals. However, the Loggers responded with a six-goal surge, including two more from Ott and additional goals from Woodard and Schilli, ending the quarter with a 13–6 advantage. Puget Sound maintained control in the final quarter, sealing the 16–9 win.

Ott led the Loggers with five goals, while Woodard added four. Humphrey and Schilli contributed three goals each, and Chen scored once. For the Lutes, Annie Latimer scored two goals, with seven other players adding one each.

The Loggers have a break tomorrow and will travel to Portland to take on Lewis & Clark Sunday at 1 p.m.
