PORTLAND, Ore.— The Loggers (9-23, 4-18 NWC) fell to Lewis & Clark (25-7, 17-5 NWC), losing 6–0 and 6-3 to the Pioneers.
Puget Sound managed just four hits across seven innings against the Pioneers. The Loggers had their best chance in the first inning when
Kylie Tanimura ripped a double to right field and advanced to third on a passed ball. However, they were unable to capitalize through the rest of the game. Tanimura finished the game 1-for-2 with a double, a stolen base, and a hit-by-pitch, leading the Loggers' modest offensive showing.
Pitcher
Alison Madia (2-9) took the loss after surrendering 11 hits and six earned runs over six innings of work. Although Madia consistently attacked the zone, the Pioneers capitalized on nearly every scoring opportunity, scattering runs across four different innings.
Alyssa Figueroa provided a late spark with a seventh-inning double, but once again, the Loggers stranded the runner. Overall, Puget Sound left five runners on base and struggled to build momentum, managing just one baserunner to third after the opening frame.
While Puget Sound showed flashes of solid defense—committing no errors—they were unable to secure a win in the first game of the series.
In game two, the Loggers struck first in the second inning when
Mikayla Johnson doubled and later scored on a passed ball. Yet, the Pioneers quickly answered with a three run homer in the third, putting them ahead 3-1.
In the sixth inning,
Kylie Tanimura's sharp single up the middle sparked a rally. Moments later,
Aislind Dail's RBI double and
Alyssa Figueroa's sacrifice fly trimmed the deficit to 6–3.
On the mound,
Nyomi Estrada (4-12) took the loss. Estrada tossed a complete six innings, allowing eight hits and six earned runs while striking out five. Despite the rough patches, Estrada demonstrated resilience, particularly during the later frames when he shut down Lewis & Clark's offense.
Offensively, Puget Sound managed seven hits, with
Alyssa Waldo pacing the team by going 2-for-3. Dail and Johnson each contributed doubles, and Tanimura added a single and a walk to round out notable performances. Although they capitalized on two Pioneer errors, the Loggers left five runners stranded—missed opportunities that ultimately proved costly.
Puget Sound hopes to come back in their remaining double header scheduled for Sunday, April 27th with first pitch at 11:00AM.
