TACOMA, Wash. — On a sunny afternoon at Puget Sound, the Loggers (14-10) erupted for eight runs in the bottom of the sixth to secure an 11–3 victory over George Fox (11-14).
UPS showed patience and power at the plate, racking up 12 hits and drawing nine walks while striking out just six times. Down one, the Loggers sent 11 batters to the plate in the sixth, pounding out five hits and capitalizing on a costly error by George Fox shortstop. The error opened the floodgates, with the Loggers scoring run after run, capped by Kellen Krebs' two-RBI double to the gap in center.
The powerful offense was led by Makana Murashige, who went 3-for-5 with a double and two RBIs. Krebs also had a strong day, going 2-for-4 with two RBIs, a stolen base, and a run scored. Ryan Spero reached base three times, including a two-hit day and a stolen bag of his own. Drew Kamihara quietly did his job at the top of the order, drawing two walks, scoring twice, and adding a stolen base.
On the mound, Brett Harvey was solid, tossing just over 6 innings and allowing three earned runs on nine hits while striking out two and walking none. He worked around early trouble, especially after a first-inning two-run shot by George Fox. Once the offense clicked, Harvey handed the ball to Braden Blackwell, who nailed 2 scoreless innings with two punchouts and allowing just one baserunner.
In game two, the Loggers suffered a tough 4–3 loss despite leading for nearly half the game.
Puget Sound's Charlie Decker allowed just one unearned run across 5 innings, while striking out five. In the fifth inning, RBI walks, a fielding error, and disciplined base running helped the Loggers push across three runs, two of which were unearned. Cooper Allen's single and RBI walk highlighted the frame, and Luke Brennan and Preston Crockett both contributed hits in the rally.
Puget Sound had its chances late. The eighth inning saw runners in scoring position following an error, passed ball, and balk, but the Bruins escaped with back-to-back strikeouts and a pop-out. In the ninth, Makana Murashige sparked hope with a two-out single, but Cooper Allen lined out to second base to end it
Despite the loss, the pitching staff showed resilience. Zach Robman (0–2) was charged with the loss after surrendering three earned runs over three innings.
Puget Sound hopes to win the series in tomorrow's final game against George Fox, with first pitch scheduled for 10 A.M. at Logger Field.
