Baseball Season Wrap-Up: Loggers Set School Record for Wins, Make Postseason History

The University of Puget Sound baseball team, coached by Jeff Halstead, concluded the season with a 25-17 overall record and a 14-10 mark in league play within the Northwest Conference, securing a third-place finish. The Loggers advanced to the NWC Tournament, where they achieved a historic milestone by winning their first postseason game in Division III history before being eliminated by Whitworth University in the semifinals.
 
This season marked a significant achievement for the team, as they set a new school record by reaching 25 wins, the best performance in the program's history. They also showcased exceptional defensive skills, finishing fifth nationally in fielding percentage.
 
Several athletes stood out during the season. Third baseman Makana Murashige '25, recognized as a second-team All-NWC utility player, broke school records for career hits, games played, games started, and career at-bats. He ranks second all-time in career total bases and stolen bases, and he is in the top five for career RBIs, doubles, and runs scored. Pitcher Brett Harvey '25 received honorable mention All-NWC honors this season, following his recognition as a second-team selection in both 2024 and 2023. Harvey set a new school record for starts and finished among the top five in all-time strikeouts, wins, and innings pitched. Other notable Loggers include sophomore outfielder Ryan Spero '27 and second baseman Kellen Krebs '26, both named second-team All-NWC. Additionally, shortstop Preston Crockett '27, relief pitcher Zach Robman '26, and starting pitcher Charlie Decker '27 received honorable mention All-NWC recognition.
 
Like true Loggers, the team also excelled academically, achieving an impressive 3.43 team GPA. A total of 43 players maintained a GPA above 3.0, with 25 achieving a 3.5 or higher, and five student-athletes earning a perfect 4.0 GPA. Harvey, Crockett, and Drew Kamihara '25 earned Academic All-District honors, recognizing their combined excellence on the field and in the classroom.
