Volleyball Earns Seventh Straight AVCA Academic Award

| By:
Tacoma, Wash. -- The University of Puget Sound's Volleyball team made their mark both on the court and in the classroom in 2024, earning the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award.

Puget Sound joined three other Northwest Conference Institutions in Lewis and Clark, and Whitman, receiving the award alongside 1,449 collegiate and high school volleyball teams. The Loggers have now received this award for the seventh straight year, a streak only bested by cross-town rival Pacific Lutheran. To be recognized, teams had to compile a year-long grade point average of 3.30 or higher on a 4.0 scale.

"Academic performance is always our first team priority at Puget Sound, and our players have fully embraced that for many years," said Loggers head coach Mark Massey. "The AVCA Team Academic Award is a positive reflection of just how much hard work they put into academic excellence every day."

Following a 16-9 (13-3 NWC) overall season in 2024, Puget Sound is looking forward to yet another strong season. They finished with an impressive 7-1 record at home last year, falling only to the eventual NWC champion Whitworth. With a slew of returners, the team has its eyes set on the conference title.

The Loggers kick off their season on August 29th, hosting Gustavus Adolphus, Southwestern, and Pacific Lutheran in the Puget Sound Premiere tournament.
