Loggers Roll Over George Fox in 3-0 Sweep of Bruins

NEWBERG, -- A smooth three-set sweep of George Fox gets the Loggers back in the win column, taking down the Bruins in the first leg of their Oregon road trip.

How it Happened
The team played well collectively, holding the Bruins to a .126 hitting percentage on the evening. Puget Sound was back and forth with Fox in the first set, with both teams trading 3-0 runs early. Maddie Badger got the log rolling with a kill to start the game, with Aubrey Tanner and Mia Fedota also adding a kill and a block to the Logger run. Badger added two more kills, hitting efficiently to start the first set.

Down 13-12, the Loggers started to turn on the jets. A 7-1 run put Puget Sound up by five, as Tanner smashed down a kill and an ace to start the run. Lauren Ly added a pair of aces on her way to a 3-0 service run, putting the Loggers up 19-14. Calista Davis also aced the Bruins, and Nicolette Raduziner combined for a block and a kill to make it 23-17. A small Bruin run made it 24-22, but Tanner put an end to the run to close out the set 25-22.

Puget Sound continued to play well, starting up 3-1 to begin the second set. Raduziner added the Loggers' fifth ace of the game, and a Badger kill kept the Logs rolling. Down 7-6, Puget Sound turned on the jets, going on a 9-2 run to get the Loggers to the mid-set media timeout. Viviann Garcia got involved with a block, Tanner had two kills, and Gena Fink got her first kill of the game.

Fink heated up, recording three straight kills in a row to go on an individual 3-0 run. Assists from Davis, Tanner, and Samantha Keightley set the freshman up, as the Loggers found themselves up 19-13. Garcia contributed another block and a pair of kills, putting the set away as the Loggers took set two, 25-20.

The third set was close for the majority of the set, as both teams battled it out. Badger started the set well with a kill, as Fedota and Charlotte Fleetwood combined for a block to tie the set at three apiece. The pair both added individual kills, forcing a Bruin timeout after going up 11-9. The Loggers maintained their lead, with Fedota adding two more kills to help the Loggers go up 14-11.

Badger and Tanner pulled the Loggers away, as two kills made it 19-15. The Bruins went on a 5-1 run to pull within one, but three final Logger points closed out the third set. Raduziner came in clutch, securing the final two kills of the game to put teh game away. The Loggers took set three, 25-21.
