PARKLAND, Wash. - - The Loggers battled the Lutes of Pacific Lutheran to a 0-0 tie in a strong defensive showing by the Logger freshman goalkeeper.
How it Happened
The tone was set early as both sides traded defensive pressure. Pacific Lutheran tried to dictate the tempo, outshooting the Loggers 13-5 and pressing heavily in the second half.
The Loggers fought to break through, seeing Owen Foley push towards the offensive third with a shot in the 16th minute just off target, followed by a shot from Jarren Merced.
Despite both sides trading early fouls, including a yellow card issued to the Lutes, the scoreboard remained tied 0-0 heading into halftime.
Pacific Lutheran immediately turned on the offensive pressure as the second half began. But Puget Sound worked hard to find counterattacks and relieve the pressure. Jackson Smith tested the defense with a pair of shots, while Rhys Foote and Foley also created chances to keep the Lutes on their toes.
The hosts racked up 10 shots in the second half alone, but Puget Sound goalkeeper Mason Allison stood tall, playing all 90 minutes under intense pressure. Allison turned away all of Pacific Lutheran's shots to preserve his fourth clean sheet on the year, highlighted by a season-high 6 saves on the day.Â
