McMinnville, Ore. -- The Loggers make quick work of Linfield, sweeping the Wildcats 3-0 to improve to 5-1 in Northwest Conference play.
How it Happened
It didn't take long for the Loggers to jump out to an early lead, as
Nicolette Raduziner served her way to a 7-1 opening run.
Maddie Badger got the first two kills of the game, as Raduziner added an ace immediately afterwards.
Charlotte Fleetwood also secured a block and a kill for the Loggers during their run, as the freshman got the hot hand early.
The Wildcats responded with an 8-1 run of their own, but the Loggers weren't phased.
Mia Fedota got in on the action with a pair of kills and a solo block, giving the Loggers a 14-11 lead. The set went back-and-forth for a while, and after the Wildcats pulled it within one, the Loggers put their foot on the gas pedal.
Viviann Garcia had two kills, as the Loggers forced a ton of attack errors in their set-closing 7-3 run, taking it 25-20.
The two teams kept it close early, trading points to start the second set. Badger, Fedota, and Fleetwood all had kills to begin the set, as the Loggers pulled ahead 8-7. Badger and Raduziner added two more, as a 5-1 run put the Logs up three. The teams continued to battle it out, though, as the Loggers' largest lead of the set came on a kill by Garcia to make it 16-12. The Wildcats pulled it within one, 22-21, but kills by Badger and
Aubrey Tanner, as well as an ace by
Camryn Shigemasa put the set away, 25-22.
The third set was close early, but the Loggers were able to take care of business. Tanner put down a kill to open the Logger scoring, with her and Badger teaming up for a block moments later. Another Shigemasa ace gave the Loggers the early lead, but the Wildcats weren't going away. Raduziner helped kickstart a 5-1 run with a kill, as Tanner and Badger made it 12-7.
After extending their lead to 17-10, the Wildcats went on their final run of the day to pull within three. Puget Sound put the set away with a 7-0 run to close out the set, as Tanner rattled off three kills in a row. Raduziner and a Wildcat attack error closed out the game, as the Loggers continue to play well in NWC games.
Badger led the way with 9 kills and 3 blocks, while Tanner was three kills shy of a triple-double (12 digs, 10 assists).
Calista Davis led teh way with 12 assists.
