Senior Night Sweep Leads Loggers Over River Otters

TACOMA, Wash. -- A senior night sweep of Lewis & Clark was exactly what the doctor ordered, as the Loggers took down the River Otters 3-0 on Halloween.

How it Happened
Nine seniors were honored during the Loggers' final home game of the season, as Mia Fedota, Viviann Garcia, Lauren Ly, Nicolette Raduziner, Amelia Reed, Hattie Villegas, Alexis Higgins, Samantha Keightley, and Aubrey Tanner were honored for their contributions to Puget Sound.

The River Otters got out to spooky start, as the Loggers found themselves down 5-3 early. A kill by Villegas, as well as an ace by Ly got the Logger rocking, though, tying the set up at six apiece. Raduziner added a kill, but a 4-0 Lewis & Clark run put the Loggers back down three. The Loggers had enough, putting on a 7-2 run to pull back ahead. Higgins got her first ace of the day, Tanner and Badger added kills, as the Loggers took a 15-13 lead heading into the first set media timeout.

From there, it was all Loggers, as Gena Fink, Tanner, and Garcia all had kills to spark a Logger run. Keightley went on a 6-0 service run, notching an ace on the Loggers' way to 25-18 first set victory. Badger got in on the action as well, logging four blocks in five points to give the Loggers the set win.

Nat Wong got the second set started with an ace, with a Tanner kill following shortly behind. The two squads battled it out from there, trading points along the way. Several River Otter errors kept Puget Sound in the game, turning up the attack in the middle of the set. Kills by Garcia, Fedota, Raduziner, and another Badger block led the way, as the Loggers piled on an 8-0 run. Keightley was in charge of the serving during the long run yet again, adding her second ace of the evening.

Garcia and Raduziner tacked on a pair more, giving the Loggers a 17-10 lead. The River Otters climbed back in the match, though, going on a 9-2 run to make it 21-20 Loggers. Puget Sound had no issue closing out the set, as Mary Denny got her first kill of the night on the way to a 25-22 set victory.

The third set started well for the Loggers, as Raduziner had a kill and an ace to get the ball rolling. Kills by Tanner and Fedota kept the lead at two, but a 5-1 River Otter run put them ahead 9-7. Puget Sound responded with a 6-1 run, with Badger finding the court for three kills during that stretch. A couple of points were few and far between for the River otters, as the Loggers closed out the set, 25-18. Keighley led another serving run, with Villegas getting three more kills and a block for Puget Sound. Jillian Fox and Raduziner closed out the set with kills, as the Loggers took this one, 3-0.

What Happens Next
The Loggers close out their season on the road, playing Whitworth on Friday, November 6th at 7:00 pm. Two Logger wins and two Whitworth losses is what the team needs in order to host the Northwest Conference tournament, with postseason hopes still alive and well.
