TACOMA, Wash. - - The University of Puget Sound women's soccer team secured a 2-1 win on Sunday to hold off Linfield and continue their unbeaten streak.
How it Happened
The Loggers created immediate pressure in the attacking third after early chances by Zoe Witter and Kate Short. Puget Sound broke through in the 26th minute when Witter found Anya Dubois in the box who volleyed it and put it in the back of the net to take the lead, 1-0.
The defense locked down the rest of the half, limiting the Wildcats to just one shot in the opening 45 minutes.
Puget Sound picked up right where they left off in the second half, maintaining offensive pressure with shots from Megan Ulrich, Kaitlyn Osada and Short.
That pressure finally paid off in the 72nd minute when Osada sent a ball into the box that found the head of Short to double the lead to 2-0.
Linfield managed to answer back minutes later with a goal, cutting down the deficit to 2-1. The Logger backline limited the action for the rest of the match, holding the Wildcats to 2 shots in the final half.
